WHAT IS THE RIGHT LIGHT FOR MY PLANTS?

WHAT IS THE RIGHT LIGHT FOR MY PLANTS?

Light is one of the most important factors for healthy plant growth. But it is a complex issue, as the light available in our homes varies greatly, whether due to the sun exposure of the rooms, the distance between the plants and the windows or even due to barriers to the passage of light, such as furniture or even buildings.

There are two important factors to take into account when choosing where to place your plant:

Duration: Number of hours of light available

Intensity: Direct/indirect/filtered/shaded light

Let's try to keep it simple, leaving you with some basic tips on this topic.

1. All plants need 8-12 hours of daily light to maintain active growth.

2. Most indoor plants do not like direct light on their leaves, especially in our summer and in rooms facing south or west.

3. Indirect or filtered light through a curtain is the best light for most indoor plants. If you can read well without having to turn on a lamp, it is most likely the ideal light intensity for your plants too.

4. Low light does not mean a room without light.

5. Light intensity decreases dramatically as you move your plants away from windows, and can drop by 95% in just 3-4 meters.

6. In winter, especially in North and East living rooms, place your plants closer to the windows.
