GRAY WINTER DAYS? ADD LIGHT TO YOUR PLANTS

Did you know that artificial light is a great complement to natural light on darker days, particularly in winter? Keep reading to find out how you can help your plants have a happier season.

You already know that plants need light to grow, right? They do so through photosynthesis and react, in different ways, to natural light spectrums.

Natural light has the broadest spectrum, with the blue end of the light spectrum stimulating the structural growth of plants and the red spectrum helping to promote the leaves' growth and stems and enhancing flowering.

Low light levels in winter make it difficult for some plants that need more light to grow. Furthermore, some rooms in your home may not offer the right light for certain plants, such as rooms facing North. Uses artificial light to compensate for

However, not all lamps can emit the same type of light. We give you some tips:

Incandescent light

Incandescent bulbs offer plants very little useful light, so they are not recommended as light sources for plant growth. Furthermore, because they heat a lot, they can burn the leaves of your plants when they are close.

Fluorescent light

Today's fluorescent lights produce less heat than their predecessors, allowing them to be placed closer to plants. However, they offer plants fewer light spectrums than LEDs.

LED light

LED bulbs offer full-spectrum lighting, which is closest to natural light and therefore most useful for plants. Furthermore, they don't heat up.

However, don't forget that plants need at least six to eight hours of light per day, so the lamps will have to be on throughout this period and focused on the plants.
